George Pavia is well known for his representation of Italian business entities and individuals in the United States. He is the managing partner of the firm and is principally engaged in the firm's Italian commercial and corporate practice. His areas of substantial experience include corporate acquisitions and restructurings, financing, joint ventures, real estate acquisitions and development, general corporate counseling and business planning.
Mr. Pavia is chairman of the Board of La Scuola, New York, an officer and director of the American - Italian Cancer Foundation. He is also a member of the Gruppo Esponenti Italiani, a director of the Italy Fund and of the Solomon Smith Barney Managed High Income Fund. He is counsel to the Italy America Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Pavia was educated in Italy, England and the United States, and is a Graduate of Columbia College (B.A. 1948) and the Columbia Law School (J.D. 1951). He attended the University of Genoa in 1954-55, was admitted to the New York bar in 1951, and served as an officer in the International Law division of the Office of the Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Pavia is fluent in Italian and French.
